Turkish Trade Bank Digital Banking Transformation

Redesigning a web and mobile banking experience to support the relaunch of Türkiye’s first private-sector bank after a 20-year hiatus—balancing regulatory complexity, accessibility, and modern UX standards.

Project Overview

Türk Ticaret Bankası (TTB) — Türkiye’s first private-sector bank — re-entered the market after a 20-year hiatus with a renewed focus on digital-first banking. In partnership with Enqura, TTB initiated a comprehensive redesign of its digital banking ecosystem, including web and mobile platforms, to support its relaunch in 2024.

The project aimed to establish a scalable, accessible, and modern digital banking experience that meets current regulatory, usability, and customer expectations—while rebuilding trust with both individual and corporate users.

  • Client: Türk Ticaret Bankası (Turkish Trade Bank)

  • Platform: Web & Mobile Digital Banking

  • Year: 2024–2025

Design Strategy

The primary challenge was to design a digital banking experience for a brand returning to the market after two decades—without relying on recent user behavior or established digital habits.

Our goal was to create a technology-integrated yet approachable banking experience that balances:

  • Functional complexity

  • Accessibility and compliance

  • A modern visual language aligned with TTB’s renewed brand identity

The design strategy focused on reducing cognitive load, clarifying critical banking actions, and ensuring consistency across platforms—laying a strong foundation for future feature expansion.

My Role & Contribution

As a UX/UI Designer, I contributed across the end-to-end design process for both the mobile app and digital banking platform.

My responsibilities included:

  • Desk research and competitive analysis to identify industry patterns and usability benchmarks

  • Designing user flows and wireframes for key banking scenarios

  • Creating high-fidelity UI designs aligned with the new brand identity

  • Contributing to the development of a scalable design system

I worked closely with:

  • Product owners and CPOs to align design decisions with business goals

  • Developers and analysts to ensure technical feasibility

  • Client stakeholders through regular one-on-one sessions to iterate on requirements and feedback

This collaboration ensured that design decisions were grounded in both user needs and real-world constraints.

Outcomes & Current Status

This project is part of a large-scale, multi-phase digital transformation. While the full platform is still in progress, the components and flows I worked on have already been published and are actively used, with additional features continuing to be developed by the broader product team.

Key outcomes include:

  • Successfully delivered and launched core web and mobile banking flows within a phased rollout plan

  • Designed production-ready user flows and high-fidelity UI components aligned with regulatory and accessibility standards

  • Contributed to a shared design system supporting consistency across teams and future development

  • Collaborated closely with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth handoff and implementation of shipped features

  • Ongoing iteration informed by internal reviews, usability feedback, and stakeholder input

Key Design Challenges

  • Designing without recent user data:
The bank’s long absence from the market meant limited access to recent behavioral insights, requiring reliance on industry benchmarks, desk research, and iterative validation.

  • Balancing enterprise complexity with usability:
Banking regulations, security requirements, and technical constraints needed to be translated into clear, approachable user flows without overwhelming users.

  • Aligning multiple teams during a brand relaunch:
Close coordination across stakeholders, product leadership, and development teams was essential to maintain consistency across platforms while supporting phased delivery.
